ammonium nitrate, (NH4NO3), a salt of ammonia and nitric acid, used widely as fertilizers and Oxidizing Agent .
The commercial grade contains about 34.6 percent nitrogen, all of which is in forms utilizable by plants; it is the most common nitrogenous component of artificial fertilizers.
Ammonium nitrate also is as an oxidizing agent in the ammonals, which are mixtures of ammonium nitrate and powdered aluminum.

Usages Area
(1) Fertilizers.
This is due to its high nitrogen content—a desirable feature for fertilizers, as plants require nitrogen to make proteins—and inexpensive industrial manufacture.
(2) Preparation of nitrous oxide (N2O):
NH4NO3(aq) -> N2O(g) + 2H2O(l)
(3) Industry Use
1 Porous Prilled Ammonium Nitrate (PPAN)
2 Chemical Pure Ammonium Nitrate (CPAN)
